Sports injuries rehabilitation

Diagnosis, rehabilitation and prevention for elite and recreational athletes

At Terme Krka, we collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons who treat top Slovenian athletes. We carefully plan and monitor rehabilitation together with our experts and consulting colleagues. We approach sports injury rehabilitation individually tailored to the demands and dynamics of the sports discipline. With an interdisciplinary approach, we strive to work holistically and ensure safe conditions for the athlete's return to the highest level of physical fitness.

Physical Therapy

Physiotherapy (proprioception, co-ordination), electrotherapy, thermotherapy, mechanotherapy and other modern approaches, with the help of experts (orthopedist, physiotherapist and kinesiologist) and new technologies, enable a top-notch approach to solving individual movement challenges (either in case of injury - rehabilitation, or in case of optimizing the movement system for top sports achievements).

To achieve the best results - the fastest and best possible rehabilitation - we also use:

  • Tecar - This method stimulates the body's internal energy by activating ions in body tissues, thereby accelerating natural healing processes and acting anti-inflammatory. Positive effects are visible after the first therapy, pain is soon eliminated, and this also increases the effectiveness of subsequent procedures.
  • Kinesio taping - By using elastic adhesive tapes, we increase the effectiveness of physiotherapy and accelerate rehabilitation. This technique improves muscle function, body fluid circulation and joint stability, and reduces pain and swelling.

Cyclergometry

The purpose of the test is to determine the anaerobic threshold so that the individual's training can be appropriately adjusted to their abilities, and after completing the program, to demonstrate newly acquired abilities. A medical examination is also recommended before testing.

Ultrasound examination

Ultrasound examination of soft tissues is a non-invasive method of observing soft structures (tendons, muscles and periarticular connective tissue) and joints.expand_more It allows for the detection of (inflammatory) - pathological changes, which for the athlete means an insight into what is happening inside the key structures in a safe way.

Laboratory tests

Laboratory tests (lipidogram, Fe, CRP, Vit D, B12, folate, blood sugar, HBA1c, TSH and Melatonin and Cortisol test). With a strong test base of results, we gain insight into the body's stress mechanisms and possible hormonal and blood irregularities that prevent us from performing optimally in sports and life in general.

Altitude training

With the help of an altitude room equipped with a cycling and rowing machine, we can simulate training at altitudes of up to 8,600 meters for athletes. By changing the partial oxygen pressure in the room, the body's adaptation mechanisms are challenged, which accelerates the transport of oxygen in the body. This enriches our blood (Fe) and increases our VO2max.

Cardio training

Aerobic exercise with individually designed workloads allows for safe and effective training.

Analysis of body structures

Analysis of body structures allows the athlete and trainer to safely plan sports training, as the measurement results provide key information about body composition (muscle mass, fat mass, basal metabolism, amount of water in the body (hydration), bone mass, phase angle (indicator of the energy state of cells in the body), distribution of muscle and fat mass throughout the body, visceral fat. All this information is key to monitoring the athlete and his body's response to stress (training, competitions). Based on monitoring body structures, the training intensity is adjusted, which allows the athlete to optimize his physical preparation.

Healthy eating advice

An individually tailored athlete's diet is becoming an increasingly important segment on the athlete's path. With properly measured food intake, we can support the athlete's body and act preventively. With us, the athlete gets a complete laboratory picture of blood and hormone analysis, which allows us to gain insight into what is happening in the body and to diagnose the individual's energy needs more easily. Athlete's nutrition, training and good regeneration are key to health and success.
